Your password is not an account Smartable can look up. It is the key your wallet is encrypted with on this phone, and it never leaves the phone. Nobody — Smartable included — can recover it or open the wallet without it.
What you can still do depends on whether the wallet opens.
If the wallet still opens with your PIN or fingerprint
- 01Open Settings → Security → Change password.
- 02Choose Forgot your current password?
- 03Confirm with your PIN or fingerprint, and set a new password.
This works on the phone where you set up quick unlock. If the app says quick unlock cannot replace the password on this phone, use the recovery phrase instead, as below.
Then write your recovery phrase down straight away, from Settings → Security → Recovery phrase. It is the only way back if you lose this phone, your PIN and your password.
If the wallet asks for the password to open
Choose Forgot password on the unlock screen. It restores the wallet from your recovery phrase, with a new password of your choosing.
- Restoring replaces the wallet stored on this phone. If the phone holds several wallets, it replaces all of them with the one you type in — so have every phrase you need written down before you continue.
- Nothing is erased until a valid phrase and a new password are submitted. Opening the screen and going back changes nothing.
A split backup cannot stand in for the password
The shares of a split backup are sealed with your password, and restoring from them asks for it whichever shares you use. If the password is gone, your recovery phrase is the way back.
What the app shows
- “This password cannot be reset”
- “Forgot your current password?”
- “Restores from your recovery phrase”
Security note
Never share your recovery phrase, private key, password or device PIN. Smartable will never ask for them or ask you to sign a transaction to “verify” or “recover” your wallet.
